No — your invoices, client list, and spreadsheet data are never uploaded anywhere. BulkyGen generates every invoice locally, and the only thing that ever reaches our server on a paid plan is a licence check, which contains none of your business data. This page explains exactly what that check does send, so "trust us" isn't the only answer.
What never leaves your computer
- Your uploaded spreadsheets and everything in them — client names, emails, addresses, line items, amounts.
- Generated PDF invoices.
- Your invoice history, stored locally in a local database file, not synced anywhere.
- Your business profile, logo, and template settings.
None of this is uploaded, backed up to a server, or used for anything — it simply isn't sent anywhere in the first place.
What a licence check actually sends
If you're on a paid plan, activating and periodically re-validating your licence contacts our licence server with:
- Your licence key.
- A one-way hash identifying this device (built from a few hardware signals combined and hashed — not a raw hardware ID, and not reversible back to those signals).
- A human-readable device label, like your computer's hostname, so you can recognize it in your account's device list.
That's the complete list. No file you've uploaded, no client data, and no invoice content is part of this exchange. The free tier makes no server contact at all.
No telemetry, no analytics
BulkyGen doesn't collect usage analytics, doesn't send crash reports automatically, and has no telemetry running in the background. What you do inside the app — which templates you use, how many invoices you generate, what your data looks like — stays on your machine.
Are finished PDFs ever watermarked or restricted?
No, on any tier, including free. A finished, downloaded invoice is an ordinary PDF file with no lock, watermark, or expiry — generating a new batch is what requires an active licence, not opening or using PDFs you've already made. The only watermark in the app is a diagonal "PREVIEW" stamp on the on-screen preview of a single invoice when you're on a capped plan, specifically so a preview can't be mistaken for (or exported as) a finished, uncounted invoice.
What this means practically
If your reason for hesitating on cloud invoicing tools is not wanting client data or revenue figures on someone else's server, that concern doesn't apply here — there's no server that ever sees that data.
